At the start of spring, many people think of nicer and warmer weather, but that is not yet the case next week. The week promises to be turbulent and especially very wet.
The week starts, just like the past few days, with mainly dry periods, a shower here and there and, above all, many gray skies. With temperatures of around 11 degrees, it is not much warmer or colder than in other years.
The weather will turn on Tuesday, but it won’t get any better. The amount of rain only increases from that day on. Weather service Weerplaza speaks of a “parade of low pressure areas”. This not only produces a lot of precipitation on Tuesday, but also the days after. Especially on Wednesday there seems to be a lot of rain.
In some places, there may even be a month’s amount of rain until next weekend. The amount of precipitation can rise locally from 30 to even 60 millimeters, where 50 millimeters is normal for the entire month of March. Most precipitation is expected in the center and south(east). In previous years, these were the driest regions during the spring.
Later in the week it can also get windy. On Thursday at the end of the day, showers on the coast can be accompanied by heavy wind gusts of around 80 and 90 kilometers per hour. Inland the wind is often (quite) strong with gusts of up to about 70 kilometers per hour. Although the wind is blowing hard, Weerplaza does not think it will become an official storm like last week.
