The Gerrit Krolbrug in Groningen is open for shipping again. Cyclists and pedestrians can also cross the bridge again.
The bridge was badly damaged in the night from Friday to Saturday when a German freighter collided with it.
Rijkswaterstaat has been busy reopening the shipping route since Sunday. We have succeeded in hoisting the bridge section in its original position.
‘We got the bridge in place. Today it was still a struggle, because it was clamped against the retaining wall. So we really had to eat it away, “says Henk Binnendorp of Rijkswaterstaat RTV North.
