IDR. One month until the world cup premiere in biathlon.

Then Martin Ponsiluoma is injured and the VC premiere is in danger.

– An inflammation I’ve had got even worse, says Ponsiluoma.

It is a problem with the hip and it started for Ponsiluoma during the altitude camp in France a few weeks ago.

– On the last day, we had a run up a really nice peak. Then there was an incredible amount of downhill running home. Then I’ve had some problems with a hip in the past and the load was far too high. We ran probably 1700 meters of drop home and it wasn’t really what I needed. The next day we were on the flight home, so I probably stiffened up quite well there. When we started training at home again, I immediately felt that it wasn’t 100, he says.

“Had to pull the handbrake”

He continues:

– It was now when we got on snow that an inflammation I’ve had got even worse. We had to pull the handbrake a little and I get to practice alternatively. But it has gone well and I hope I can come back soon, he says.

There is just over a month left until the World Cup premiere in Östersund on November 25. Whether or not Ponsiluoma is in it remains to be seen how much the injury affects him.

– I want to be out driving on snow and get used to it. Mentally, it’s a bit tougher, but I have to think that I’ve done a very good job this summer without any other problems. I hope it settles quickly now and I hope to get started on snow. I guess that’s what I’m aiming for. I’m not that worried and I can’t do much more. I’m not sick, so I can still keep my body going.

“Doesn’t seem like a good year”

One month until the premiere — when do you want to be in full swing to get the best possible conditions?

– As soon as possible actually. Applies to get in the hours on snow and get the feeling. Roller skis are something completely different and you need to get the feeling on the snow. I think the intensity will come once I start skiing again.

Is it age that haunts?

– Yes, exactly… 28, it doesn’t seem like a good year.
