Cardiff –
Gareth Bale had previously been declared injured in Real Madrid. But then, he looks fit to defend Wales. Even a hero of the victory over Austria!
Wales were able to beat Austria at Cardiff City Stadium in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup play-offs, Friday (25/2/2022) early morning WIB. Gareth Bale became the hero of the Dragon’s victory thanks to his two goals in the 25th and 51st minutes. Meanwhile, Austria was only able to reply from Marcel Sabitzer in the 64th minute.
Wales will meet the winner of the match Scotland vs Ukraine in the final play-off for a ticket to Qatar. This duel could not be held because of the unfavorable conditions in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.
Bale again showed that he could make a difference for Wales in this match. He has scored 100 goals in 36 appearances for Wales.
Bale’s performance with Wales is clearly in contrast to what he has shown with Real Madrid this season. The 32-year-old winger has only made five appearances for Madrid with one goal.
Bale was even declared injured in Madrid’s last match, losing 0-4 to Barcelona in El Clasico. But then, he looked fresh and fit to defend Wales by making two goals against Austria.
Bale’s colleague in the Wales national team, Aaron Ramsey, admits that Bale is a person who gives everything while defending his country. The Rangers player insists Wales are very lucky to have a captain like Bale.
“He came and played for his country means everything to him. You can see that. We all have a very good relationship and want to play well for our country and he is the same. We are grateful to have him,” said Ramsey quoted from the UEFA website.
