“According to preliminary information, 17 people were injured in the Russian attack on the maternity hospital in Mariupol – expectant and new mothers and staff,” Donetsk district police said.
“The maternity hospital in the city center, the hospital, the children’s ward and the therapy were all destroyed in a Russian air raid on Mariupol. Literally,” Kirilenko wrote on his Facebook page. He said there were no casualties.
Mariupol City Council reports that the damage after the attack is enormous.
“The building of the medical institution where the children were recently treated has been completely destroyed. Information about the children affected is being clarified,” the council said in a statement.
Mariupol has been besieged by Russian invaders who are bombing the city despite a promised ceasefire to allow civilians to flee the city.
More than 400,000 people are stranded in the city, who cannot leave because of the relentless shooting.
