Someone was injured in a stabbing at a hotel near Central Station tonight. When officers wanted to arrest a suspect, they fired several times.
The stabbing happened around 11:15 p.m. A large number of police cars were called. According to a police spokesman, bystanders gave a good description of the suspect, who walked towards Central Station.
After the shots were fired, it is not yet clear whether officers fired targeted or whether they were warning shots, the suspect was hit with a stun gun. Officers were able to arrest him afterwards. He was not injured by the shots.
Several ambulances and a mobile medical trauma team arrived at the scene. The victim of the stabbing was first treated in the hotel by paramedics and the trauma team and then taken to hospital by ambulance. He seems serious.
It is not yet clear whether the victim and the suspect knew each other. The police spokesperson emphasizes that the suspect was arrested within 10 minutes of the report and that officers may have been able to prevent worse in this way.
