Just days after one of the worst fires in New York City in decades, another building in the Bronx burst into flames. At least 16 people were injured, including nine children, according to media reports. None of the victims are in mortal danger, said the fire department today.

The fire broke out in a furniture store in the early hours of the morning (local time) and quickly spread to the apartments above. Television footage showed thick smoke billowing from windows of the four-story building as more than 200 firefighters battled the blaze.
There had been several severe fires in the Bronx in the past week. A fire in a New York apartment building on Thursday killed 12 people, including a baby and three other children. There, a child had been playing on a stove in an apartment on the ground floor, causing the fire.
