Berlin (dpa/bb) – Several groups and initiatives have requested that free lunches be held in primary schools in Berlin, paid for by the state. This is what the Berlin Nutrition Council, the State School Committee, the Berlin Child Protection Association and the Berlin Consumer Center requested in an open letter to the Senate.
The fact that politicians from the governing parties CDU and SPD would question the free meal is short and inappropriate. “A complete man Nutritionespecially in the early stages of children’s development, is the basis for healthy development and for equal opportunities in education and participation.”
The Senate and especially the SPD introduced state-paid lunches in 2019. Critics complain that parents who earn well can pay for school meals their children well and that the focus should be on the quality of the food, which could certainly be better with more money.
