The goal is to achieve the training of the producer to effectively apply the technique to the field and maximize its yield.
19 September 2022) Workshop on the implementation of organic fertilizers from the application of mycorrhizae as an ecological alternative for the multiple benefits it represents for agricultural production. The training activity was carried out at the headquarters of the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), an agency annexed to the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Power for Productive and Land Agriculture (MinPPAPT), located in the parish of Francisco Ochoa , San Francisco of the Zulia state. The INIA press reported it.
The seminar was attended by technicians from MinPPAPT, its related entities and local producers. In this sense, Carmen Inciarte, Researcher at INIA Zulia and facilitator of the workshop, explained the importance of Mycorrhizal Mushrooms (HM) in sustainable agriculture, as they act as a nutrient transport agent, having an impact on the conservation of resources.
He stressed that the plant development of crops can be increased thanks to the intervention of fungi that form the mycorrhizal association, the main advantages of which are the absorption of elements such as calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and phosphorus (P), which in turn cause root growth, increase the absorption capacity of water and nutrients, giving rise to vigorous plants that are more tolerant to pathogens.
He also stressed that “in the state of Zulia, the indiscriminate use of agropharmaceuticals has caused the degradation of the soil, ie the breakdown of its natural structure, the depletion of nutrients and contamination due to excessive fertilization”. The application of organic fertilizers by adding mycorrhizae that give rise to the formation of the Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungus (AMF) allows to improve the nutritional status of the soils through the incorporation of efficient microorganisms that allow to restore fertility, without disturbing and / or worsen their condition.
In this sense Geovani Romero, Research Coordinator INIA Zulia stated that the information of the workshop is very important and interesting, as it represents an alternative to the replacement of chemical fertilizers that degrade the soil and lower production costs in harvesting.
For his part, Pedro Torres, a producer in the area, said that this information should be brought to the field where farmers are located to advertise this alternative to implement the use of more accessible and cheaper biofertilizers. (END / Daniela Candelo).
