Ingrid, the 58-year-old woman from Diest who can currently be seen in the One program ‘Restaurant misunderstanding’, has passed away. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2017.
In Restaurant misunderstanding people with young dementia run a restaurant, under the guidance of presenter Dieter Coppens and chef Seppe Nobels. From a positive approach, to show the world what they can still do. Ingrid can currently be seen as the person responsible for the snacks.
On Monday afternoon, the VRT announced that she had just passed away. “We have just learned of the death of Ingrid, a highly valued member of the kitchen brigade of Restaurant misunderstanding† It was a wonderful adventure in which Ingrid played an indispensable role. It was therefore her express wish that the episodes would be broadcast. The entire team remembers her with nothing but warmth and we wish her loved ones strength to bear this loss,” it sounds.
Dieter Coppens: “Ingrid was a very warm and empathetic woman. She started her adventure with us somewhat unsure, but gradually blossomed. We are glad we could witness that.”

The other employees of Restaurant misunderstanding gave a joint response: “Ingrid was a welcome colleague. As a team, we have built up a close relationship in a short period of time. We understood and supported each other, and we learned from each other. Ingrid contributed incredibly to that.”
At the time, Ingrid was a laboratory assistant in a hospital, a job that requires quite a bit of concentration and dexterity. As a result, everyone quickly realized that something was wrong. But even before the official diagnosis was made, Ingrid said she already knew what was going on.(dhs, bpr)
