V. has canceled the league game season for this year. For the second year in a row there are no tackles, touchdowns and no fight for counters. The Ingolstadt Maniacs, who had planned for the regional league, still want to play a few matches. Head coach Andreas Manfredi wants to offer his team an alternative.
The plan is to organize a friendship tournament with two other teams. Talks with competitors from the regional league are already underway. The basic requirement for this: “Each team must be able to train normally for six weeks beforehand. Only then can we start the tournament,” explains Manfredi. In Ingolstadt is currently not possible.
Home and away games are planned for each team. Of course there are also points. After the main round it goes to the play-offs to play off the tournament winner. The participating teams will determine the exact mode, the referees will be provided by the starting clubs themselves. “It would of course be a dream to play in front of spectators,” says Manfredi. It remains to be seen whether and how this can actually be implemented. Alternatively, it is still possible to play contactless flag football in parallel, as long as classic American football is not allowed. It has also not yet been fully determined when an alternative game operation is possible. “In any case, my players are motivated. Many of them are already hard at work in the gym again,” said the head coach from Ingolstadt. sol
