The forces in Ingolstadt football are being bundled: the clubs Ingolstadt Maniacs and the reserves of the Ingolstadt Dukes want to field a joint state league team in the coming season.
The background, as confirmed by Maniacs chairman Matthias Fröschl and Dukes department head Hannes Fürst, is the difficult personnel situation at both clubs. While the Dukes reserve did not even play in the Landesliga Süd-Ost in 2022 (and was scored 0:20 eight times), the small Maniacs squad also remained without a point in ten games this year. “We agree that in the future there will only be one amateur team in Ingolstadt one club should give,” explains Fast. They want to offer all hobby players a platform behind the strongly performance-oriented working GFL team of the Dukes. And since the association does not allow syndicates, as Fröschl points out, one must now meet under one roof. The game is played under the name Ingolstadt Dukes II. It is almost paraphrased: “The disputes that used to exist between some people from both clubs in the past are now practically irrelevant.” The new team is to train together for the first time from October.
