Ingolstadt City Youth Association Achieves Highest Financial Returns for 2023

For the 41 representatives of the youth associations of Ingolstadt who were present, this year’s general meeting of the City Youth Association (SJR), after the welcome of the chairman Annika Kupke and the welcome of the city of Ingolstadt from the speaker Isfried Fischer, about the new thing. elections and the increasingly scarce financial resources in the work of youth associations.

Before the new elections, the agenda was to say goodbye to outgoing board members Lisa Scheck, Paul Kirmeier, Lorenz Birzl and, above all, Andreas Utz, who did not stood for re-election after 35 years of voluntary work at the SJR. In a funny and entertaining review, the many projects that Andreas Utz was responsible for and made possible as deputy chairman were brought back. The subsequent election confirmed Annika Kupke as chairperson for another two years. Sebastian Schäfer from the Evangelical Youth was chosen as their new deputy. Future assessors will be Isabel Schlögel, Franziska Gampenrieder, Jakob Wank and Cornelia Böhm.

The highest returns for the financial year 2023

Managing director Stefan Moser gave the highest return of 3.5 million euros for the financial year 2023. The basis for this was the full use of all offers, the strong financial support from the city of Ingolstadt and the additional increase in third party external funding quota. At the same time as ongoing operations, other challenges such as the introduction of sales tax, the digitization of business processes and the existing shortage of skilled workers are well studied.

According to Moser, the very good result cannot hide the fact that there was a financial imbalance, especially in promoting the work of the youth association, even if the reason was very positive. In 2023, almost 150 applications were submitted to the city’s youth association by youth associations than ever before. In particular, the number of holiday camps lasting a week or more has almost doubled compared to previous years. More than 2,000 children and young people participated in the activities of youth associations in 2023. However, the board also had to limit the funding for this year 2024 to 65 percent of the maximum funding amount.

Arrange donations with the city of Ingolstadt

The assembly then voted on an appeal from the youth of the German Alpine Club and other youth associations and unanimously asked the board to negotiate with the city of Ingolstadt to receive a special one-time subsidy for 2024 and a significant increase in the current subsidy from 2025. In the associations’ view, the aim must be to receive 100 per cent of the funding again this year so that we can continue to offer affordable offers to children and young people and their families. At the end of the meeting, the new basic agreement between the city’s youth group and the city was unanimously approved, which will be renewed after more than ten years and will continue as a working basis for cooperation by the city of Ingolstadt in the coming years.

With a farewell, Annika Kupke once again called on all associations and representatives to participate actively in the new Ingolstadt Alliance for Democracy, Diversity and Tolerance.
