The Spanish business group specialized in energy conversion Ingeteam is supplying and installing its power stations for the largest solar complex in South America, which Enel Green Power Brasil is building in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Gurguéia, in the Brazilian state of Piauí.

The São Gonçalo solar project already has 608 MWp of operational solar power, which have been installed and commissioned in two previous phases. In this third phase, 256 MWp are being installed.

For this third section of the São Gonçalo project, Ingeteam has supplied thirty 7.2 MW power stations. Each of them integrates four 1.8 MW solar inverters, the power transformer, the medium voltage cells, the auxiliary services panel, the auxiliary services transformer and a UPS. In addition, Ingeteam has also supplied its PPC plant control system (power plant controller, for its acronym in English). This project represents Enel’s largest power generation plant under construction in the world.

It is estimated that the third section of the São Gonçalo solar project will come into operation in 2021, thanks to which the photovoltaic complex will generate 2,200 GWh per year through the use of bifacial panels.

In Latin America, Brazil is, along with Chile and Mexico, one of the main markets of the group, which does not rule out entering other markets: Stefano Domenicali, CEO and vice president of the Italian subsidiary of Ingeteam, has declared that “we are very satisfied with the trust that Enel has placed in our technology for this very important project for Brazil ”. In addition, he added that “we trust to continue working closely with Enel, since for us it is a strategic client that can open the doors to us in many other international markets.”

Ingeteam has recently been awarded the maintenance of the 220 MW Magdalena II photovoltaic plant, owned by Enel Green Power Mexico.

The Ingeteam Group operates worldwide and has a permanent establishment in 24 countries, employing more than 4,000 people. Its activity is structured on the basis of R + D + i, investing in it annually more than 5% of its turnover. Last year it supplied more than 3.8 GW in 2020.
