Ingá-Máret won the singing part in this year’s Sámi Grand Prix – NRK Sápmi

Jörgen Stenberg won the yoik part in SGP with «Skilkedh».

The winner of the song section was very grateful.

– Scary. Thank you all dear people. Thank you for voting for me. The winner said this after program leaders Fred Buljo and Alexandra Rotan revealed who this year’s winner is.

Six finalists

Hosts were Keiino’s Alexandra Rotan and Fred Buljo. They led the show in Sami and Norwegian.

Six finalists were selected for the yoik part of this year’s Sámi Grand Prix:

Inger Marie Nilut (Kautokeino) with the yoik «Ovl ‘Ovl’ Ovlla»; Iŋgor Ántte Áilu Gaup (Kautokeino) with the yoik «John Mathias Gaup», Johan Anders Bær (Karasjok) with the yoik «Per Heimly», Jörgen Stenberg (Umeå) with the yoik «Skilkedh», Máhtte Ánte J. Sara (Kautokeino) with the yoik « Sildda áldu »and Sara Elvira Kuhmunen with the yoik« Čuvggodit »(Jokkmokk) with the yoik« Čuvggodit ».

From sex sangfinalistene was:

Aili Teigmo sang “Bajimusas” (Rooftop). She has released music for several years, both as an artist and songwriter. On the SGP stage, Aili showed a new and more real side of herself; she sang in Sami. She says that music sounds even more beautiful, softer and more vulnerable in Sami than in English.

Elin & The Woods with «Dát vuovdi». The duo consists of Elin Kåven from Karasjok and Robin Lynch from Sandnessjøen. The title means in Norwegian “this forest”, is about everything that lives among the trees, even the things we may not notice.

Elin & The Woods synger Dát vuovdi

Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso with «Dovdameahttumii». Gaup-Juuso is a traditional yoiker, with roots from Kautokeino in Norway and Enontekiö in Finland. “Dovdameahttumii” is about never taking the path of life, or the opportunities that may arise along the way.

Mirja Palo is from Arvidsjaur in Sweden. This is the first time she participates in SGP. “Hilla” means “glo” in Norwegian, which for Mirja is a metaphor of love, for people, nature and places that are precious to us.

Natalie Carrion participated with the song «Daelviejïjje». She comes from Umeå in Sweden. She has gradually become a household name for Sami music lovers. Natalie does not have Sami as her mother tongue, but that does not stop her from singing in Sami.

Natalie Carrion sings Daelviejïjje.

Soa – «Áiggi mielde». The word soa comes from Portuguese and means “sounds” or sounds. The title means “with time”. The band consists of Ellinor Skartland from Tana, David Cariano from Oslo / Portugal and Andreas Gundersen Timme from Tana.
