The coronavirus pandemic is still a major challenge: Restrictions in many areas of daily life and the constant concern that family members could become infected with COVID-19. Many adults are now vaccinated to protect themselves from serious disease. Since August 2021, vaccination of children and adolescents aged 12 and over with an mRNA vaccine (BioNTech / Pfizer and Moderna) has been recommended by the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). In addition, the STIKO advocates having children aged 5 to 11 with previous illnesses vaccinated against COVID-19.
