Information: Fowler applied for the coaching job in Bajen

Between 1993 and 2001, Robbie Fowler was successful in Liverpool as a player. In recent years, the legend has instead taken on the role of coach, and according to information, he was hungry for a stay in Sweden.

Aftonbladet reports that Fowler applied for the job as head coach in Hammarby, when they were to replace Milos Milojevic last winter.

The hiring process, which ended with the club hiring Martí Cifuentes, was extensive where sports director Jesper Jansson and other parts of Hmmarby’s sports management worked together with an external recruitment company to find the right one. According to the newspaper, there must have been several high-profile names who applied for the job, including Fowler.

The Englishman’s application is said to have come as a surprise to the Stockholm club, but he was never up for the job.

– It always happens that when there is a coaching job available, you get a number of different names. We got it this time too. I do not intend to comment on any names, but I can say that a couple were very surprising, says Jansson to the newspaper.
