One thing became clear at the last information event on the council request in Kirchseeon. Many citizens are still undecided
Kirchseeon – The countdown is on: 24 days left until the council’s request for the former railway sleeper factory site in Kirchseeon will be decided. And so the administration is using an information evening for the last time to bring the market town’s voters up to date again.
Around 120 interested people are present in the ATSV hall; they gather information at information stations about the topics of traffic, financial burdens, soil remediation and local development. Just as many joined in online. At 7 p.m. Mayor Jan Paeplow takes the stage and explains the basics. Together with lawyer Dr. He clarifies something important to Fronhöfer: If the majority vote “yes” on October 8th, this does not mean that the excavators will roll in the next day and the district will be built. Rather, all the thinking and planning, which had already resulted in many wishes, suggestions and concerns with the help of strong citizen participation in the numerous workshops, working groups and information evenings, would start again.
Then into concrete plans that would be implemented over the coming years. And Paeplow explains all this in a very relaxed – or rather – less tense way than before. After that it was over again – there were no questions from the audience.
“It didn’t even take an hour,” says a Kirchseeon resident who actually attended every event. To date, there has been repeated criticism of the investor, whom some do not entirely trust. In this respect, the lawyer Fronhöfer particularly caused a stir with an explanation: If there were no investor and the site was still in the hands of the municipality, then the Federal Republic of Germany could easily take over the contaminated area and dispose of it more or less freely.
“I don’t know yet,” is one of the most common answers when asked locally how someone will vote. There is now even a special edition of the community newspaper “Kirchsseon aktuell”, which deals with the upcoming council request.
This may help voters who are still undecided. Jan Paeplow said in the ATSV hall that he expected a high voter turnout on October 8th because of the state and district elections taking place at the same time. An interesting side note from a visitor to “Hello”: “I actually didn’t want to go to the state elections because I didn’t know who to vote for. But now I’m taking part because I’m already there because of the contaminated area.” etc
