Information event – Horn district: Time is ripe for the energy transition

The world has daily challenges in the areas of energy, climate, environment and technology. But the tree of solutions sprouts with a rich harvest on good soil, said eKUT managing director Othmar Schlager at this event. eKUT cares for this tree and provides it with nutrients for the many tasks and wishes of customers, he said.

The focus of the impulse event was renewable energy and energy communities for the communities of Altenburg, Brunn, Gars, Horn, Pernegg, Hülsenbach, Rosenburg-Mold and St. Bernhard-Frauenhofen. The impact of such communities, opportunities for participation and membership, joining, roles and benefits were discussed. As Schlager explained, in an energy community, locally or regionally generated energy is shared and used in the surrounding area. “Companies, institutions, clubs and households are pooling their participation energy for the regional energy transition,” explained Schlager. The climate, the environment and people’s wallets would benefit from this. The goal must be to achieve 100 percent renewable energy in the region and to allow everyone to play their part. The expansion of photovoltaics is seen as an important component in the energy transition. With energy communities, more electricity should be produced locally and made available directly to local consumers at a fair electricity price.
