WASHINGTON, iNews.id – Research results in the United States and Canada reveal vaccines Modern more effective against Covid-19 variants Delta rather than Pfizer. The results of the two studies were released on medRxiv on August 8th.
In a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic Health System network involving more than 50,000 Covid-19 patients, researchers found the effectiveness of the Moderna vaccine against infection fell to 76 percent in July, compared to 86 percent in early 2021. Infection cases involving the Delta variant were dominant in the US in July.
As for Pfizer, during the same period, its effectiveness fell even further to 42 from 76 percent. It’s just that these two vaccines are still effective in preventing Covid patients from being hospitalized.
The results of another study involving residents of a nursing home in Ontario, Canada, the Moderna vaccine also produced a stronger immune response, including against worrying variants such as Delta, than Pfizer.
