The gendarmes of the Villefranche-de-Lauragais company arrested, on Sunday 20 November, an individual suspected of a rape committed 5 days earlier, in Ramonville Saint-Agne, south of Toulouse.
What would have happened to her if she hadn’t escaped from that abandoned trailer? A woman was raped on Tuesday 15 November in Ramonville Saint-Agne, south of Toulouse.
As usual that evening, the victim decides to walk in the park of the “Fifty Farm”, an area where families and walkers mix during the day. But when she walks around 8pm, as night falls, this woman looks lonely. After a few minutes of wandering on a trail, she is approached by a thirty-year-old man. This man pretends to have lost his cell phone and asks for help to find it.
He drags her to an abandoned trailer
Cornered, the victim seems to be forced to accept. Initial searches lead nowhere. The owner of the cell phone then offers this woman to explore an abandoned caravan, sometimes occupied by homeless people. The victim suspects nothing and she agrees to continue the excavations. But once inside the caravan, the trap closes. This woman in her 40s is stuck. Her suspicion prevents her from leaving and forces her to have sex with him. She protests but he rapes her. Despite the trauma she has just experienced, this brave woman struggles and manages to retrieve her belongings before running away. She rushes home and alerts the police.
Portraitist, technicians…
Following this complaint, the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office immediately opened a rape investigation and entrusted the investigation to the investigation brigade of the Villefranche-de-Lauragais gendarmerie company, assisted by the Castanet brigade community. The victim is treated by a coroner.
A few minutes after his statement, the military deploy huge means to find the suspect. In addition to a criminal identification technician, they benefit from the support of a portrait artist. With the help of the victim, this professional draws the face of the attacker. And the gendarmes seem to recognize an individual already known from their services. He is a 37-year-old marginal.
After patrolling the whole sector, the suspect was finally arrested on Sunday 20 November in the early hours of the morning, by members of the Escalquens Gendarmerie Security and Intervention Team (PSIG). During the hearing, the 30-year-old does not deny the sexual act but appears to downplay the facts. His version does not convince anyone. After his interrogation, he was accused and imprisoned. The investigation is now in the hands of the investigating judge.
