Influenza ignites a poultry farm with 390,000 broilers 7 km from Haskovo-Agro Plovdiv – 2024-04-12 14:27:12


The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has detected an outbreak of Influenza A (influenza) in a poultry breeding facility broilers in the village of Voivodovo, municipality of Haskovo. About 390,000 birds are bred in the farm, which is 7 km from Haskovo. In order to limit the disease and prevent its spread, actions will be taken to humanely kill the diseased and contact birds in the site.

We remind you that just two days ago the virus was detected at a farm for laying hens in Haskovo.

A 3-kilometer safety zone has been defined around the affected livestock facility, which includes the villages of Haskovo-Vojvodovo municipality, Manastir and Konush. In the 10-kilometer monitored area are the villages of Stamboliyski, Malevo, Knizhovnik, Dolno Vojvodino, Orlovo, Dolno Golemanci, Mandra, Kozlets, Teketo, Galabets, Trakiets and Vaglarovo from Haskovo municipality.

An epizootic survey and tracking of the movements of domestic and other birds, products and animal by-products obtained from them, bird feed, as well as means of transport related to the technological process at the site is carried out.

Earlier today, the BFSA rushed to assist members of bird protection societies, hunters and tourists in carrying out wild bird surveillance for Visoko disease
pathogenic avian influenza (Avian influenza). This will help the FSA to study how the disease is distributed geographically and among different bird species.

When detecting dead birds, finding birds with uncoordinated movements or
detection of a change from the normal appearance of the internal organs during the primary processing of shot feathered game, the Regional Directorate for Food Safety in whose territory you are located or the BABH hotline must be immediately informed: 0 700 12 299.
