Annual inflation in Estonia decreased to 13.5% in April, compared to 15.3% the previous month, according to the data released by the Statistics Department on Monday.

Compared to the fourth month of last year, the prices of goods in Estonia increased by 13.6%, while the prices of services increased by 13.1%.
Statisticians indicated that compared to the year, consumer prices in Estonia were most affected in April by the increase in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which accounted for almost two-thirds of the total increase, as well as housing-related price changes, which accounted for one-fifth of the total increase in consumer prices.
Among food products, the price of sugar increased the most during the year – by 86.1%, as well as cocoa – by 41.5%, olive oil – by 41.4%, sauces – by 40.9%, bread products – by 35.6% and chicken meat – by 35.1%.
Gasoline prices in Estonia in April were 6.2% lower than a year ago, while diesel became 12.5% cheaper.
During the year, electricity for households became more expensive by 49.4%, heating energy became 15.6% more expensive, the price of solid fuel increased by 14.4%, while the price of gas decreased by 43.4%.
Compared to March, consumer prices in Estonia grew by 2% last month, which follows 0.7% monthly inflation in the previous month. During the month, the biggest impact on consumer price changes was caused by housing-related price changes, which accounted for 70% of the total increase.
