Inflation has reached its lowest level in 2 years, Governor State Bank claims

Web Yesk: Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmed has claimed that the inflation in Pakistan has decreased sharply during the last one year and has reached a two-year low of 20.7% in March 2024, which was at a high level of 38% in May 2023.
According to the spokesperson of the State Bank, while giving a briefing to the foreign investors in Washington DC on the improved economic situation of Pakistan, Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmed said that the external sector has also become stable, which is reflected in the July-February fiscal year 2024. The current account deficit narrowed sharply to $1 billion from $3.8 billion in the same period last year.
According to the spokesperson, the Governor State Bank attended several events organized by top global banks and financial firms including JP Morgan, Citibank and Jefferies on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the IMF World Bank in Washington DC. Met with international investors.
Governor State Bank apprised the participants about the significant improvement in the economic situation of Pakistan during the last one year as a result of accommodative monetary policy, support for proper financial integration and initiation of important structural reforms.
Jameel Ahmed said that during the last one year, the inflation rate in Pakistan has decreased rapidly to a two-year low of 20.7 percent in March 2024, which was at a high level of 38 percent in May 2023.
