Infinite wants to reduce social reproduction within large schools

A study published by the Institute of Public Policy on Tuesday January 19 shows that only 9% of Grandes Ecoles students come from disadvantaged socio-professional categories, whereas they represent 36% of the age group. Certainly, there is already a panoply of student loans offered by banks, but the latter often require a guarantor and charge an interest rate. The state-guaranteed student loan is limited to a maximum of 20,000 euros, and is also associated with interest. Scholarships are available for disadvantaged students, but under certain conditions. To be eligible for Infinite, you must meet social criteria (but not necessarily have scholarship status) and be admitted or students in one of the partner establishments. Among the first partner establishments, we find HEC, Polytechnique, SciencesPo, McGill UniversityTelemaque and UWC International announces the entrepreneur in a LinkedIn post.

In raising 500,000 euros in donations from individuals and companies in the first year, Infinite hopes to eventually be able to help 2,000 students per year in France. Suitors can apply online by completing a questionnaire before going to an interview. Award criteria ? Income and socio-professional category of parents, city of residence, high school attended as well as academic results, but also the project and “professional ambition”.

“It is a model that has no equivalent. It is a snowball effect in which the beneficiaries will finance the next beneficiaries “, explains Alexandre Mars. Concretely, favoring studies of excellence also ensures the sustainability of the model. “Each student can repay your loan over 12 years with flexible monthly payments. This amount will be fully reinvested in the fund to finance other loans, he explains. The Grandes Ecoles have an extremely high employability rate. If 60% of funded students did not find employment, then the model would collapse. »
