The malware is hidden in fake apps that offer free coupons and football polls.
Researchers from zLbs Zimperium in Texas, say the app, which is loaded with malicious software “Flytrap”, lures victims with false promises of free coupon codes and soccer polls.
“Flytrap usually infects phones by hiding inside apps that look harmless,” the research team said.
Once logged in, the malware hijacks all Facebook accounts stored on the device.
From here, hackers can collect personal information including your Facebook ID, location, email address and more.
According to Zimperium, FlyTrap has attacked at least 140 countries since March 2021 and has spread to more than 10,000 victims. – .
