The Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timisoara is full of patients with viruses and pneumonia. There are also people infected with SARS CoV-2. The most affected are the elderly and the main vector of transmission is still the children who bring the virus home from the community.
Most respiratory infections are of viral origin and do not require antibiotics, but even these cases need consultation and medical supervision, Professor Cristian Oancea, manager of the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timisoara, told us:
“It’s the season of respiratory infections, whether we’re talking about bacterial or viral infections, we have a lot of seasonal infections with the respiratory virus, we have an increase in SARS CoV-2 but without complicated forms of the disease, instead we have bacterial pneumonia in the elderly with respiratory complications and complications and to other organs. Patients who have a state of fatigue that is not normal and feel it more and more seriously, if they have a saturation in the peripheral blood, i.e. by pulse oximetry, we indicate to them to have a control X-ray or a computer tomograph to detect these forms of respiratory infections called pneumonia.
Children exchange between germs whether viral or bacterial in nature and then take it back into the home environment to parents to grandparents. Grandparents are the most prone, having advanced age and various comorbidities, to take on these respiratory infections, and of course, they quickly become acute. We suggest a healthy lifestyle, vitamin therapy, resting at home for two or three days if we have a form of respiratory infection is very good.”
The most effective method to prevent viruses, flu and its complications remains the flu vaccine that must be administered at the beginning of the cold season.
