The number of infections among contact persons of the GP in Kruisem remains limited, 7 percent of them tested positive for the corona virus. The Agency for Care and Health reports this on Thursday. In the East Flemish municipality, a corona outbreak was diagnosed last week that could be traced back to one doctor, who did not always wear a mouth mask in his practice.

The doctor’s patients who had contact with him recently were all contacted. If they had run a higher risk of contamination, they were invited to have themselves tested in a temporary test center in the municipality. Almost all test results are now known and collected. Seven people out of 95 who got tested tested positive.
‘We usually see a positivity ratio of 12 to 15 percent for high-risk contacts. Fortunately, that is a lot lower here, ‘says Joris Moonens, spokesperson for the Agency for Care and Health. ‘The number of infections has remained limited. We can thus close this minor outbreak and restore calm to Kruisem. ‘
The Agency for Care and Health emphasizes that the positively tested persons must now be placed in the usual home isolation. They will be contacted through the contact investigation so that their contact persons can also be notified.
