The notorious Wagner Group denies responsibility for animal-eyed parcels delivered to Ukrainian embassies in Europe. The embassy in The Hague also received such a bloody package on Friday.
The Ukrainian embassies in Hungary, Poland, Croatia and Italy, among others, also received packages with animal eyes. And in Spain, letter bombs were delivered to several places, including the US embassy in Madrid. Even the Wagner Group says it has nothing to do with it.
Leader Yevgeny Prigozhin wrote in Telegram that his Wagner group will never stoop to “such gross and stupid antics.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba spoke of “a tightly organized and targeted campaign of intimidation and terror”. Ukraine immediately called Russia the prime suspect. The Russian government has not yet responded to the packages.
The Wagner Group is a notorious mercenary organization fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine. The group is also known for its methods of intimidation and psychological warfare. Through mercenaries and their tactics, Russia is trying to increase its influence in Europe. The Kremlin insists the group is not employed by Russia.
