This year’s concert will present the canonical Christmas compositions of the world’s greatest composers in the vaults of the monumental medieval church. Music by Handel, Monteverdi and a Christmas piece will be performed by the outstanding organist and composer Andrejas Kalėjas. O sanctissima (O you joyful).
Pianist Andrejs Osokins will perform pieces by Bach – Prelude in B minor and Largo from Concerto for Harpsichord with Orchestra in F minor.
The owner of the inimitable and velvety soprano, the famous opera diva Inese Galante will sing celebrated pieces by Caccini, Verdi, Albinoni, Pergoleze and other great composers.
The Inese Galante Foundation always supports talented young artists with inspiration and joy and offers a unique opportunity to perform together with famous musicians. This year again, the bright and talented contestants will take part in the festive concert The talents of Ines Galante winners of previous years.
Winners of the first prizes of the competition, now soloists of the Latvian National Opera, Viktorija Pakalniece (soprano) and Artjoms Safronovs (tenor) will sing both solo parts and in duet with Inesi Galanti, inspiring muse of the event. Pianist Marija Michela Jaunzeme will perform Sergej Rachmaninoff’s Etude in G minor op.33, while the trio – violinist Andrejs Yegorovs, cellist Katrīna Anna Rando and pianist Daniil Mickiewicz – will perform Bach’s aria Have mercy, my God from the Matthew Passion. Also, various musical surprises await the audience.
At the end of the evening, the boys’ choir of the 1st Jāzeps Mediņas Riga music school, under the leadership of the conductor Romāns Vanags, with the participation of other artists, will perform one of the greatest Christmas carols: the anthem Silent night holy night.
The organizers point out that a special lighting project is being prepared for the church again especially for this event. The ascetic Gothic church will be transformed into a fairy tale by dynamic light installations, which will harmoniously fit into the musical context and create an unforgettable atmosphere in the hall. The concept of the lighting solutions and scenography is developed by the director and producer of the Inese Galante Foundation, Inese Galante.
