Adventurer Dan Přibáň was among the personalities who commented on the Czech Lions’ misstep. Director Daria Kashcheeva wanted to remind everyone the day after MDŽ that many women in the Czech Republic are forced to choose between building a career and motherhood. However, she did not finish the speech, the director of the live broadcast of the movie night cut her off at one point.
Dan Přibáň was among those who stood up for the award-winning director. To the good he added his own experience from many other countries he passed through. Many a Czech, Moravian or Silesian may be surprised by his experience.

A Bolivian gas station, a tiny baby in a mother’s scarf watches curiously as we convince her to sell us cheaper gas. Meanwhile, in the middle of Europe, in one of the most developed, richest and most prosperous countries in the world, we are dealing with the fact that a woman has to choose whether she wants to work or have children,” he was angry on the social network Facebook.
Moments later, he lashed out at those who opposed the award-winning director born in Tajikistan but living in the Czech Republic. Some debaters let the woman, who celebrated her 37th birthday, disrupt the natural flow of television broadcasting. Dan Přibáň has a message for you.
“The just-discovered interest in the flow of live broadcasts is just a stupid crutch to scold. If it were a different topic, they would be silent, or they would support it. Plus, of course, our famous Czech stubbornness, especially not to do something they didn’t allow us to do. If the director advocated for Ukraine, she would be supported by those who support Ukraine and reviled by those who would hand over Ukraine to Russia. If she stands up for Israel, she will have the support of the supporters of Israel, and if she stands up for Palestine, they themselves will revile her. This sudden concern for the quality of the live broadcast is ridiculous,” he stated.
In the discussion under the article, a debater took the floor and emphasized that she was able to build a career and raise three children.
“I agree, but I didn’t fully understand what the director really wanted and I’m writing this as a woman:)) I work in a managerial position, I spend quite a lot of time at work, yet I managed to raise three children without any consequences, have pretty thirty years of marriage with a beloved man. I am dedicated to my hobbies, work and family and I am grateful for my life and career as it is,” she wrote.
Přibáň couldn’t take it and reacted.
“Obviously, I don’t know what your options were, but given that you’ve been married for 30 years, I’m guessing that you were raising your kids in the 90s, and that was an insanely performance-oriented era where it was a virtue to fall flat on your face and stuck at work from I can’t see, to I can’t see. So it is quite possible that what seemed normal to you (as well as to me at that time) will not seem normal to the younger generations, and I can say for myself that I completely understand them,” he stated.
