Ineos Fusilier: The Newest 4×4 Model from English Company Ineos, Launching in 2024

THERE’S NO TWO WITHOUT THREE – After the Grenadier and its Quartermaster pick-up variant, the English company launches its third 4×4 model: the Ineos Fusilier. The new off-road vehicle will have slightly smaller dimensions than the other two, but aims to maintain its dimensions excellent offroad qualities, without compromising performance on asphalt at the same time. In addition to the fully electric variant, Fusilier will also make available a version defined as aesthetic autonomywhich consists of a small petrol engine capable of maintaining the level of battery charge in case a charging source is not available. Technical specifications and other details of the new model, including its market launch, will be revealed in autumn 2024.

MADE IN GRAZ – What is certain is that, as with the Grenadier models, also the Ineos Fusilier was designed in collaboration with Magna, which will produce the 4×4 at its plant in Graz, Austria. Part of the development of Fusilier also includes an intense testing program on the Schöckl, a mountain located near the Austrian plant and which has become famous as the testing site for the legendary Mercedes G-Class. The objective is to reach production in 2027. The new vehicle from the English brand wanted by Jim Ratcliffe will be slightly shorter and lower than the Grenadier, but it will will preserve the DNA, adding a more modern approach and a distinctive personality. It will be built on a dedicated skateboard platform combined with a top hat structure, with a steel underbody and aluminum doors and latches.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS – The choice to offer, in addition to the electric motor, also a version with range extender expresses the desire to “continue to make cars that customers want to drive, a mix of propulsion technologies is needed”, he explained Jim Ratcliffe. “Electrics are perfect in some situations, for example for short journeys and delivery services in urban centres, but our industry and governments need to have realistic expectations about other technologies that can help accelerate the pace of change. For this reason, for the Fusilier we have introduced an alternative engine that drastically reduces emissions but guarantees the autonomy and refueling capacity required in specific situations.”
