Following the floods that affected our country, many associations or businesses have decided to set up fundraising. This is particularly the case of the Péruwelz refuge which wanted to put its stone to the building.
“Being a refuge, we generally need solidarity for our doggies, throughout the year. As we have a Facebook page that attracts a lot of people, the team decided to call for donations. Indeed, we are really putting ourselves in the shoes of the victims during this period, it must be terrible for them. The members of the refuge had the opportunity to go there and see real scenes of desolation“, specifies a volunteer from the Péruwelz refuge.
The citizens have undoubtedly shown generosity to help the victims of the various affected regions. However, the shelter team were shocked to discover inappropriate donations and the disrespect that some people may have.
“Among the donations collected are cracked shoes, clothes torn, stained or filled with urine as well as food that has expired since 2016. We just ask the population to bring us suitable things. Currently, we no longer take clothes. On the other hand, we continue to collect food, water, maintenance equipment as well as goods for animals.“.
On their Facebook page, the shelter spread the message to their community. The team now hopes to receive suitable donations for people in need.
