Kickers Offenbach also lost the second game of the season in the Southwest Regional Football League. At 1:2 in Aalen, the OFC conceded a late goal and owed a lot.

Aalen – This is nothing more than a classic false start. Or even worse: After the 2-1 defeat at VfR Aalen, do Offenbacher Kickers have to put aside all hopes and dreams of promotion after the second day of play? The manner of the two defeats at the start, against newcomer Stuttgarter Kickers and on Friday evening against the by no means highly rated relegated team from last season, do not suggest a quick improvement.

On the contrary.

The Kickers played haphazardly, unimaginatively, tactically uninspired and were again harmless on the offensive for 90 minutes like a streamer at carnival. And on the defensive, this time there were several dropouts. As against Stuttgart, the OFC conceded the decisive goal in the last minute after carelessness. After the second flop, the Kickers can be anything but optimistic about the “small” main derby on Sunday (4 p.m.) in a week against the U21s of Frankfurt Eintracht.

Kickers coach Christian Neidhart only made one change in personnel after the 1-0 defeat at the start of the game against the Stuttgarter Kickers. Jayson Breitenbach moved into central defense for ex-Aalener Kristjan Arh Cesen and Julian Albrecht took over his position in defensive midfield. Neidhart left the tactical orientation unchanged, in 4-2-3-1 control of the game and opponent was initially on Offenbach’s agenda. But that didn’t even work for five minutes. The first standard situation shocked the team and 600 fans who had traveled with them. The Aalen midfielder Meien was able to push in completely unhindered from five meters to make it 1-0. No assignment, no tough duel – something like that shouldn’t happen at this level.

The Kickers had not won the last four test games and the first league game. Such a negative series leaves traces, which is reflected in many hair-raising bad passes and confused offensive efforts. A short urge phase with two good opportunities gave the OFC hope again. Mike Feigenspan crossed Marcos perfectly, but his imprecise shot from eight meters landed on the chest of Aalen goalkeeper Witte (34 ‘). And two minutes later, the Kickers were struggling with a referee’s decision when a goal by Jan Urbich was denied because the ball was said to have been just out of goal when Feigenspann crossed it in – but that was it in a desolate first half from Offenbach’s point of view .

The Kickers players came out of the dressing room after a ten-minute break, but continued to act far too passively. Again, the almost exclusively faster Aaleners had the first clear chances. After 56 minutes, Neidhart could no longer watch the lifeless performance and responded with a triple substitution. The OFC mainly relied on the first appearance of ex-second division player Nazarov. After 70 minutes, Neidhart drew the last two jokers and had thus exchanged his entire “offensive”, which had not brought about a single conclusion up to that point. The change of five had an effect. After a wide cross, Irwin Pfeifer took the ball and hit the near corner from eight yards (76′). When you make it 1-1 after such a bad performance, you should be satisfied with a point, but in the 89th minute the OFC blacked out again. Diakite coaxed the ball from Albrecht, used Thermann on the left and pushed in his cross from five meters to make it 2-1.

After the “deserved victory” of the Aaleners, Neidhart only hinted at what the OFC was missing in the press conference: “We weren’t awake in many situations and didn’t have the intensity that we need.” He wanted the dissatisfaction and disappointment so soon didn’t let the game out completely, but also said: “I could have made four changes at half-time.” And you “already have a few things that we can work on and have to do better”. But as soon as possible.
