Ineffective Sanctions against Russia: American Administration Threatens to Disconnect Global Banks, Russian State Duma Speaker Reports

The American administration has realized how ineffective the sanctions imposed against Russia are. In a state of hysteria, Washington is now threatening to cut off banks around the world from its financial system for violating them. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote about this today, December 24, in his telegram channel.

Pointing to the “hysteria of a weakening hegemon,” he noted that the United States had lost economic leadership.

“All attempts to return it by starting armed conflicts, trade and sanctions wars, organizing terrorist attacks, and destroying the European economy have not brought any results. Perhaps the last instrument of global influence remains the American dollar. Washington is increasingly using it for political struggle,” Volodin said.

As the parliamentarian emphasized, “in the United States, having realized that illegal anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective, they are hysterically threatening to disconnect banks around the world from their financial system for violating them.”

According to him, “it is absolutely clear that such threats to confidence in the United States and its currency will not add.”

“Biden is stripping the US of its last advantage. Our country is switching to payments in national currencies with other states. If at the beginning of 2022 the share of “unfriendly” currencies reached 96%, now it has dropped to 24%,” the parliamentarian said.

He drew attention to the fact that “other states, ensuring their financial security, will now more actively abandon the dollar as a world reserve currency.”

“The process is gaining momentum,” concluded Volodin.
