Mexico City, The National Electoral Institute (INE) has not been notified about the provisional suspension granted by a Colima judge for the institute to stop the electoral process for judges that began last Monday.
This was reported by the presiding counselor, Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, who added that when the sentence arrives, the 11 counselors will have to analyze it together with the legal area to determine whether to stop the process or continue it.
In this regard, counselors Dania Ravel, Carla Humphrey and Claudia Zavala agreed that as long as they do not have the ruling, they cannot make a decision, even if it is public knowledge, because they must respect legal procedures, but they will not make a decision based on it either. statements by other political actors, such as Senator Ricardo Monreal, who called on the INE to ignore it.
Interviewed separately about this provisional suspension, Taddei said they will wait for the notification to arrive, analyze it legally and see what is appropriate.
“It’s not just me, we are 11 councilors who will have to take a position,” he stated.
Meanwhile, counselor Dania Ravel was emphatic in pointing out that they will make a decision with autonomy and independence, but they must first analyze it.
“We are waiting to receive that notification so that at the time we can read the agreement determined by the judge and make the appropriate determinations. This would also imply that we would be in a phase of provisional suspension, therefore we will have to submit a detailed report so that it can be confirmed. can subsequently define whether the definitive suspension will be granted.”
He considered that they should review the terms of this suspension, if it is effectively binding the General Council of the INE so that they no longer take any action and “of course that all the determinations of the jurisdictional authorities must be complied with.” “If in your case we do not agree, then those can be challenged and reviewed by another jurisdictional authority, but we cannot stop observing,” he clarified.
He stated that they will carry out the necessary analysis through their legal area, “but the decision is made here.”
For her part, Carla Humphrey commented that until they are notified and read the sentence, they will determine what they have to do legally.
“At this moment we are not notified. When we are, we will take a legal position on the matter. Meanwhile, we will continue with what the Constitution tells us… We will have to analyze, we have to see and evaluate what the legal route would be. We will continue,” he said.
He stressed that they will act in accordance with the law when they are notified, as they have done in other cases, such as revocation of mandate and popular consultation, because they have to comply with the Constitution.
