INE will follow up on the resignation of 200 candidates in Zacatecas

Mexico City .The Electoral Training and Organization Commission of the INE agreed to follow up on the resignation of 200 candidates for different popularly elected positions in Zacatecas, such as deputations, municipal presidencies, trusteeships and councillors.

In an extraordinary session, counselor Dania Ravel reported that the state electoral institute notified them that of that total, only one person stated that their resignation was due to suffering political violence against women based on gender, so they were provided with the information. and corresponding advice. “However, she decided not to file the complaint; however, the respective follow-up will be done,” she clarified.

As for the others, he explained that the causes were due to having been registered without their consent, for personal, work and health reasons, to change the political party and position for which they had been nominated; due to issues of insecurity, because they did not have time, because it was not in their interest to participate in the process, because they only presented the documents for the party to keep the place and because the political group that nominated her did not respect the agreements they had.

Ravel pointed out that the local Ople highlighted that in cases of resignations there is a specific procedure, particularly regarding women, which establishes that in addition to the decision must be ratified, the person “is assisted by personnel from the executive management of parity between genders, in order to detect whether she is resigning voluntarily or for some other reason, for which an anonymous survey is applied that allows a diagnosis to be prepared aimed at identifying, preventing and eradicating political violence against women due to gender”.

Likewise, he said, they are informed of what violence consists of, the procedure to follow, and the entities responsible for addressing them.

Counselor Carla Humphrey described the resignation of the 200 candidates as “very serious” and therefore it is necessary “to give timely follow-up to this type of case.”
