Los Mochis, Sin. The National Electoral Institute (INE) has not guaranteed democracy by not facilitating the voting of Mexicans abroad, said Claudia Sheinbaum, presidential candidate of the Let’s keep making history coalition.
After the INE notified fellow nationals that their applications to register to vote on June 2 were classified as inadmissible, and reported that they also excluded from the Nominal List of Voters Resident Abroad the cases in which “inconsistencies” were detected in applications and documentation presented, called on the electoral counselors to facilitate that vote.
Sheinbuam considered it “incredible” that the INE would withdraw the possibility of voting in the next elections from some 35 thousand Mexicans who live abroad, when from the United States alone between 250 thousand and 300 thousand registered, of about 20 million with possibility of doing so. And they give them, I think, three days so they can resolve their situation! said the candidate.
We, he added, “want all Mexicans who live abroad, who have Mexican nationality, to be able to vote. That is called democracy and the INE has not facilitated that.”
He stressed that the process for Mexicans to be able to vote from abroad is “too tortuous. Not only do they have to have their voter card, but they also have to register, they have to receive approval and it is not the consulates, which are facilitators, it is a matter of the National Electoral Institute.”
He recalled that when he lived in the United States, for 4 years, from 90 to 94, “we participated in demonstrations in front of the consulates to demand the vote of Mexicans abroad.
So, a call to the INE to facilitate this situation.”
On the other hand, he insisted that his campaign team will present to the INE a general approach on the format of the debate, in light of how the first of three was developed, and the characteristics of the questions.
“I agree with what the president (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) said that they were oriented, as if nothing had happened during the government. In one of the interventions I said that I did not agree with the direction of the question.”
Sheinbaum heads to Culiacán for a rally. After his conference, he led one in Los Mochis, where he maintained that the opposition and “some who long for the regime of the past, do not understand what is happening in Mexico, and that we have the best president. “A man of integrity, who has not stopped fighting for the well-being of the people of Mexico.”
Before hundreds of attendees on Antonio Rosales América Boulevard, he insisted that the people “are happy with their president, with what has happened in Mexico and that is the transformation.” He highlighted that he will continue the Fourth Transformation.
