Mexico City. The election of judges will cost 13,205,143,620 pesos, according to the project approved today by the General Executive Board of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in which this forecast is presented as a “precautionary budget” for the fiscal year 2025. .
This panorama must be brought to the general council in a session in which representatives of political parties will not be able to participate, only councilors. The amount is identical to what was disclosed in previous days in the INE working groups.
For now, in the extraordinary session of the Board it was determined that the projects approved for the indicated amount must subsequently be integrated into the Institutional Project Portfolio (CIP) and the general bases of the INE Preliminary Budget for the fiscal year 2025.
The INE reported that the proposal for specific projects is constituted in accordance with the INE Strategic Plan 2016-2026, “observing the provisions of the Federal Budget and Fiscal Responsibility Law, in regards to the fact that the administration of federal public resources must be carried out based on criteria of legality, honesty, efficiency, effectiveness, economy, rationality, austerity, transparency, control, accountability and gender equality.”
In the context of the election on June 1, 2025, in which all the positions of Ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, the vacant magistrates of the Superior Chamber and all the Magistrates will be elected and Magistrates of regional chambers of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation, the members of the Judicial Disciplinary Court, as well as half of the positions of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges, “the INE has the responsibility “legal obligation to adequately foresee the specific projects necessary to carry out orderly and efficient elections, in terms of the criteria established by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, in the constitutional controversy 203/20220,” the body added.
