INE and TEPJF must resolve the election in Álvaro Obregón within 96 hours

Mexico City. In 96 hours, the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) will have to decide whether the election of Álvaro Obregón mayor and the victory of Javier López Casarín are valid or if they annul it.

Yesterday the Mexico City room of the TEPJF ordered the INE to once again evaluate the expenses incurred by the Morena candidate, adjusting the cost of a video game according to what the price matrix dictates and not by the price given by the designer who created it. he elaborated.

With this resolution, the 5.8 percent exceedance of the campaign spending limit will increase even more, so there would be more reasons for the court to annul the election in said mayor’s office, explained the office manager of the Institute’s Inspection Unit. David Ramirez Bernal.

“The effects of the ruling consist of establishing and motivating the cost of video and photography editing, and of applying the price matrix to the video game that the then candidate distributed. This translates at first glance into the fact that the excess will slightly increase “he detailed in an interview.

In that sense, the sentence is not aimed at a reduction, but rather must consider a higher cost and not the one given by the icing party, that is, apply the one indicated in the price matrix used by the INE for this type of technology. .

“When applying the price matrix we have to apply the highest value of a similar good, then it inevitably goes up,” he reported after adding that after the ruling they began to work on those adjustments.

Applying the highest value of the matrix, he noted, “inevitably leads them to increase the amount of overruns.”

Although they do not have a deadline to resolve at the INE, Ramírez Bernal specified that the electoral court did tell them that they must take into account that the mayors of Mexico City take office on October 1st.

Given this, “we have to resolve, bring it to the General Council no later than September 30,” which in turn must be resolved by the TEPJF.

“We are in an extreme situation, where we no longer have much time,” he admitted.

-What if that time passes? He was questioned.

“It shouldn’t, but events that are impossible to repair usually occur. For this reason, since last night we began working on compliance with the sentence, we are moving as quickly as we can in the recalculation of the concepts and we have the instruction to circulate the project as soon as possible so that the Council can meet and resolve, let’s see how little space we leave for the room, because there will be very little left.
