The approximately 200 companies in Austria that manufacture products for solar thermal energy – collectors, storage, pumps, controllers – could not complain despite the hard braking of the economy.
Roger Hackstock, Managing Director of the Austria Solar Association, quotes more than half of the companies in the corona crisis, according to the latest survey among members.
However, because assembly work was not possible, around two thirds of the companies had to postpone orders. Orders were only canceled at two of the companies surveyed.
Because the industry is doing comparatively well, there were only a few layoffs. Short-time work had to be registered by almost all companies due to assembly delays.
According to Hackstock, incoming orders mainly come from large customers. These are, for example, industrial companies or operators of district heating systems who want to use solar heat.
The approximately 200 companies in the industry in Austria – including Vaillant, Viessmann or Greenonetech – have a turnover of around 180 million euros and employ 1,400 people. To boost the economy, they want the government to focus on renewable energies.
