Industrial Zone Prepares for Influenza and Covid-19 Vaccination Campaigns

The Industrial Zone is preparing to carry out vaccination campaigns against influenza and Covid-19 again, reported José Enrique Villafuerte Hernández, president of the Union of Users of the Industrial Zone (UUZI).

The business leader stated that a few days ago he held a meeting with the Delegate of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Head of Medical Benefit Services, with whom he discussed the vaccination campaign typical of the winter season.

In this regard, he pointed out that the IMSS reported that it will not be until the end of this month of October when the vaccines arrive – this despite the fact that it was announced that the campaign starts in the middle of the month – and there will be immunization against influenza and against Covid-19.

He specified that in the case of Covid-19, the Sputnik and Abdullah vaccines, of Russian and Cuban origin respectively, will be applied, while Pfizer will only be available for children between 5 and 12 years old.

He highlighted that “the advantage” is that in the Industrial Zone there was very well-coordinated work between the IMSS and the business sector during the pandemic, so around 99% of the workers are already vaccinated against Covid-19, “when At least they bring three or four vaccines, this is very important because the virus no longer affects them the same way.

Proof of this, he said, is that there have no longer been problems with a decrease in the workforce due to this disease, so they will once again bring vaccination to companies, “it will be coordinated as in the pandemic in some companies, “We are just waiting for (the vaccines) to arrive.”

Finally, Villafuerte Hernández indicated that in addition to vaccination, the IMSS will bring its two mobile units to administer mammograms.
