An 86-year-old man is suspected of having killed his wife, on the night of Saturday May 23 to Sunday May 24, at their home in Francueil (Indre-et-Loire), reports France Bleu Touraine. The 84-year-old victim suffered from a serious health problem.
The husband could not bear to see his sick wife, who returned home after several weeks of hospitalization. Faced with this situation, he planned to end their lives.
He allegedly hit his wife with the butt
The gendarmesAmboise were warned in the morning by the sister of the alleged murderer. They quickly arrested the octogenarian. While in police custody, he said that he wanted to open the gas cylinders first, but did not succeed. He then allegedly grabbed a rifle that was no longer in use before taking a shotgun. He then allegedly struck his wife with the butt.
The gendarmes also found a rope very close to the crime scene. Which would attest to the desire of man to end his life. An autopsy of the victim’s body is scheduled for Monday.
