Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) Plans for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) in Jakarta

Jakarta

Mobile operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) is currently preparing related service products fixed mobil convergence (FMC).

In Indonesia, Indosat is one that has not yet entered FMC. Previously, XL Axiata was present by attracting Link Net, while Telkomsel released FMC after joining IndiHome.

“Coming soon. Wait for the game date,” said Director & Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), Muhammad Danny Buldansyah in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/11/2023).

Previously, Indosat HiFi was introduced as a fiber to the home (FTTH) service in September 2022. Next, Indosat wants to introduce FMC service products.

“We believe that cellular operators must have an FTTH business as a complement to cellular to support FMC. We are now doing FTTH with HiFi. We will partner with many parties, last mile providers, or other FTTH providers, whether in the form of collaboration or acquisition,” he said.

Furthermore, Danny explained that in the current condition of internet use, people want their internet connection to always be on, whether at home or outside.

“Well, if you don’t have FMC, people end up not using it at home or if they don’t have FTTH, they still use mobile or they can use fixed wireless like our competitors’ products, which are cellular but stay at home,” he said.

“Well, if that happens, our use of mobile will be ineffective. When we move around, it’s uncomfortable, isn’t it? If you have an FMC, it ends up being one unit. So in the future, the FMC will become one thing, not just one thing. shifting, but complementary, complementing each other,” continued Danny.
