Mobile phone operators Indonesia adopts a digital SIM card or for instance growing. After Smartfrennow it spins Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (John) which officially features eSIM.
For information, eSIM, which stands for Integrated subscriber identification module it is a digital SIM that is permanently implanted directly into the device.
Therefore, an eSIM has no physical form and cannot be transferred between devices as easily as a regular SIM card.
“Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (John) supplied the product for instance (Digital SIM) which is simple, transparent and worry-free, in several outlets in Jakarta,” Steve Saerang, SVP Head of Corporate Communications IOH, said in a written statement on Thursday (12/22/2022).
So far, not all smartphones support eSIM, such as iPhone 11 and above, iPad mini, iPad 7th generation and above, Samsung Galaxy flagship variants: Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z series Flip and Fold, Galaxy Watch4, Huawei P40 series and Pixel 2 or later can use eSIM.
For now, the eSIM made by IOH is still in its infancy and is only available in DKI Jakarta. But moving forward, IOH will expand its coverage nationwide.
As for customers who want to activate new eSIM numbers or old numbers, whether prepaid or postpaid, this can be done at KPPTI Outlets, Pondok Indah, Roxy, Kota Kasablanka, Mangga Dua and Ambassador Mall.

- Buy an eSIM card or replace a SIM card with an eSIM
- Verify the user’s personal information to activate eSIM QR
- Scan the barcode or QR provided using a compatible mobile phone,
- The Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison eSIM is also ready to use
