Indosat IM2 Officially Disbanded

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

PT Indosat Tbk officially dissolved its subsidiary, PT Indosat Mega Media (IM2) after obtaining approval from IM2 shareholders. This is conveyed through information disclosure Indonesia stock exchange (AT).

“We can convey that the shareholders of IM2, namely the company and the PT Indosat Employee Cooperative, have approved the dissolution and liquidation of IM2 on December 8, 2021,” said Indosat Corporate Secretary Billy Nikolas Simanjuntak, Friday (10/12).

He added that his party also appointed liquidators, namely Jamaslin James Purba, Alvian M Tambunan, and Megawati Prabowo, from the James Purba & Partners Law Firm Office.

“With this decision, including the appointment of a liquidator, the company hopes that IM2’s operational closure can be carried out in an orderly manner,” he explained.

Previously, in the aftermath of the disbandment of IM2, the trade unions asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to step in to assist them in obtaining rights from the subsidiary of PT Indosat Tbk. Starting from payment of salaries in arrears and allowances to protection from unilateral termination of employment (PHK).

“We ask related institutions to step down, even President Jokowi to step in to help protect our rights,” explained IM2 Trade Union Chairman Denny Saputra at a virtual press conference, Tuesday (14/12).

According to Denny, Jokowi needs to help them because IM2 is a subsidiary of a large telecommunications company in Indonesia. In addition, this problem not only affects a handful of employees, but hundreds.

He noted that there have been more than 350 employees with contract status (outsourcing) who have been victims of unilateral layoffs since November 30, 2021. In fact, they have never received communication from management, but they were immediately laid off.

In addition, there will be 93 permanent employees remaining and will be the next victims of layoffs when the company officially closes on December 31, 2021. In fact, these employees have not been fulfilled with their salary and benefits rights.

“The company said that the fulfillment of employee rights will be completed through a liquidation process, but this liquidation process is unclear both in terms of nominal (paid) and the time period. Liquidation takes time, it can’t be fast, so what should we eat while waiting for it? ” he said.

Denny said employees’ concerns about the settlement of employee rights through the liquidation process also arose because the Attorney General’s Office had actually confiscated all of IM2’s assets since November 29, 2021. Starting from land assets, buildings, and others.
