Stricter corona rules apply in restaurants and also in sports in the north. 2G plus applies there. There is a curfew for pubs, discos are no longer allowed to open for the time being. Masks are compulsory at indoor events.

The 2G-plus rule has been used indoors in sports in Schleswig-Holstein since Wednesday. For example, only vaccinated and recovered people with a fresh negative test or booster vaccination are allowed to go to the gym. On Tuesday evening, the state government passed a new Corona state regulation. Masks are now generally compulsory at indoor events.

The state government has also implemented agreements from federal and state consultations such as 2G plus in restaurants. While the restaurants are supposed to close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., discos have to close completely for the time being. Christmas parties in discos and clubs had contributed to the spread of the virus in Schleswig-Holstein. Mask requirements and capacity limitations only applied there from December 28th. Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) acknowledged errors in this regard.

The closure of the discotheques was only possible because the state parliament determined the epidemic situation for Schleswig-Holstein on Monday. A regulation for all of Germany expired in November.

2G plus also applies to saunas, steam baths and whirlpools as well as body-related services where customers cannot wear a mask, as is the case in cosmetics. Medically or nursingly necessary services are excluded. At the hairdresser, 3G still applies (vaccinated, recovered, tested).

At family celebrations, a maximum of ten participants are also permitted in restaurants, with the exception of under-14s. Only 500 people are allowed for seated events in the theater, cinema or concerts. For all other events, up to 50 participants are allowed indoors and up to 100 participants outdoors.

Choirs are now required to wear masks when singing indoors, and playing wind instruments is no longer permitted. Exceptions are professional musicians, singers and examinees. Masks are also mandatory at the checkout in the supermarket. Only 50 people are allowed to take part in sports competitions indoors, 100 are allowed outdoors.

From January 17, immunized employees in daycare centers without a booster vaccination will be required to carry out tests three times a week. In the future, vaccinated and recovered employees in care facilities and integration assistance will have to test themselves three times a week instead of twice a week. This also applies to outpatient care services.

On the first two school days after the end of the Christmas holidays, a total of 2089 schoolchildren in Schleswig-Holstein tested positive for the corona virus. On Monday, quick tests were positive for 1,670 students and 81 teachers, according to data from the Ministry of Education. As of Tuesday, there were 419 cases among students and 20 among teachers.

According to the Ministry of Education, almost 362,000 schoolchildren attend 794 public general education schools in Schleswig-Holstein. In view of the corona pandemic, the state government initially extended the obligation to test for two weeks. Instead of two as before, three tests per week are now planned. With the next school and corona regulation, the obligation to test should also be extended to those who have recovered and those who have been vaccinated.

Nationwide, the number of new infections transmitted within one day exceeded the 80,000 threshold for the first time on Wednesday morning, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). In the north, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants rose to 633.0 cases within seven days on Tuesday (Monday 587.3). The state registration office gave the number of new infections reported on Tuesday as 4113 – more than ever before in the pandemic. But there were also numerous late registrations.
