Indonesia’s Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari Reaches AJC 2023 Final, Country’s Only Representative

Indonesia sent one representative in the individual final round Asia Junior Championships (AJC) 2023 at the Among Raga Sports Hall in Yogyakarta, Saturday (15/7).

The only Indonesian representative in the AJC 2023 final is Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari from the women’s singles sector.

In the semifinals, Mutiara Ayu defeated China’s Shou Qun Yu in straight games, 22-20, 21-13. In the final round, Mutiara Ayu will face South Korea’s 14th seed, Kim Min Ji.

Kim Min Ji made it to the finals after eliminating ninth seed from China Xu Wen Jing 21-17, 17-21, 21-16.

Meanwhile, two other representatives of the Red and White Team who qualified for the semifinals failed to continue their struggle to the final.

Indonesia’s mainstay in the men’s singles sector, Alwi Farhan, had to be stopped by a Chinese athlete who was also the third seed, Hu Zhe An, 17-21, 13-21.

Men’s doubles Zidane Attauba Efendi/Kleopas Binar Putra Prakoso who were the last representatives lost to the Chinese pair Chen Yong Rui/Hu Ke Yuan.

Zidane/Kleopas had to admit Chen/Hu’s superiority in the first game 13-21. In the second game Zidane/Kleopas tried to get up by providing fierce resistance.

Zidane/Kleopas were able to force the score to draw up to 18-18, before setting 20-20. However, at those crucial points Chen/Hu managed to excel and win the match with a score of 22-20.
