Indonesia’s Home Affairs Ministry urges regional governments to support and oversee the 2024 General Elections to ensure safety and order.

The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs has called on regional governments to support, oversee and facilitate the development stages of the 2024 General Elections, which will secure the nation’s unity and integrity. Speaking in Sorong, Southwest Papua, the special staff member for village and border development highlighted the important role that regional governments have to play in the preparation process, namely that they should keep up-to-date with the development of all stages conducted by the General Elections Commission (KPU). It is the responsibility of the regional governments to ensure a smooth running of all stages of the election and to establish harmonious relationships among all election stakeholders. Investing in the election will further boost the nation’s GDP by 0.6%.
