Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has recently added Panama, Guatemala, and Macau to their list of regions whose nationals are eligible for a visa on arrival (VoA). Foreign tourists can apply for an electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) by visiting molina.imigrasi.go.id before leaving for Indonesia. The new VoA policy has been outlined in Circular Letter Number IMI-0133.GR.01.01 of 2023. The application for e-VoA doesn’t require a guarantor and can be carried out using a credit or debit card with Visa, Mastercard, or JCB logos. The e-VoA fee is Rp500 thousand (US$33.49), and after completion of the application process, the applicants only need to show the e-VoA document on their electronic devices upon arrival at an Indonesia airport or harbor. Visitors can use VoA and e-VoA services for various purposes such as vacationing, business dialogues, holding government duty visits, and conducting transit. The VoA is valid for 30 days but can be extended only once and cannot be changed into another type of residence permit. The electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) can be used to enter Indonesian territory no later than 90 days after the date of issuance. With Panama, Guatemala, and Macau added to the list, there are now 92 regions whose nationals are eligible for the VoA. The addition of these regions aims to bolster sustainable tourism and boost economic development.
